Video: “I take responsibility for my mistakes”, says Bolsonaro at Alvorada

After the defeat of the Brazilian National Team to Croatia in the Qatar Cup, this Friday (12/9), President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) broke his silence and spoke to supporters for the first time since the second round of elections, when he was defeated by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

“I take responsibility for my mistakes”, said the representative, in the area outside the Palácio da Alvorada. Bolsonaro left the official residence on foot and waved to supporters who are concentrated there, even before the end of the dispute against Croatia.

“If I’m here, it’s because I believe in God and I owe loyalty to the Brazilian people. We awakened patriotism in Brazil, the people returned to admire their flag. It is not easy to face the whole system, ”he continued.

The President of the Republic also mentioned the Armed Forces, which, according to him, “are essential in any country in the world”. “I have always said over these four years that the Armed Forces are the last obstacle to socialism. They respect the Constitution and are largely responsible for our freedom.”

“Decisions, when they are exclusively ours, are less difficult and less painful. If something goes wrong, it’s because I’ve lost my lead. I take responsibility for my mistakes, but I ask you: do not criticize without knowing everything that is happening”, added Bolsonaro.

“Some speak of my silence. A few weeks ago, if I walked out here and said good morning, everything would be distorted. Brazil does not need more laws, it needs laws to be effectively enforced. We’ve been watching, day after day, absurdities happening. How easy it is to impose a dictatorship in Brazil. Today, we are living at a crucial moment, a crossroads. You decide my future, you decide where the Armed Forces go. You are the ones who decide where the Chamber and the Senate are going”, highlighted the current head of the Republic.

Supporters

Dressed in green and yellow and embracing the National Flag, some supporters chanted “I authorize”.

Bolsonaro was at the side of his vice-presidential candidate in this year’s elections, reserve general Braga Netto; former Minister of Tourism Gilson Machado; and Bolsonarist journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio; in addition to security.

Chanting pro-Bolsonaro chants, supporters of the Chief Executive began to occupy the presidential palace even before the end of the dispute against Croatia. After a very nervous game, with the right to two goals in extra time, Brazil could not resist Croatia and was eliminated from the World Cup in Qatar on penalties.

Since the results of the elections, supporters of the current president have gathered to express their repudiation of the victory at the polls of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). In the federal capital, sympathizers occupy the Administrative Base of the Brazilian Army Headquarters, asking for military intervention.
