“I didn’t watch episode eight, but my wife did, and my daughter, and they were really upset about it. My wife said, ‘Just watch the end.’ Years ago I watched my dad die of cancer and it just quickly took a turn for the worse from being diagnosed to being on the brink of death. You know, he got scrawny so quickly. So, when [my wife] showed me that final thing and my face appeared. I just started crying because I looked at the image of my father when he was dying, the image of him, and it was shocking. It was very, very shocking to me. I put a lot of my mother’s traits into this character, Viserys, but when I saw that, I thought ‘That’s my father’ and it was terrifying. So, it was quite impressive. The character King Viserys in House of the Dragon, I think is probably the best character I’ve ever played in my eyes. The story was right. The character was right.”
