Fans have been asking for a Mean Girls reboot for so many years. But, if there was a chance for the cast to come back and do a revival, would they take it?
Last month, stars Amanda Seyfriend, who played Karen Smith, and Lindsay Lohan, who played Cady Heron, caught up with the Interview Magazine and were asked about the possibility of a second film by Mean Girls. In the original film, both played members of “The Plastics”, the school’s most popular girl group.
When asked about a sequence of Mean Girlsthe star of The Dropout said: “I would kill just to do a week, all of us playing our own roles in Mean Girls on Broadway”. Lohan chimed in and said it would be “a lot of fun” to reunite with the original cast again.
Before you get your hopes up, Seyfriend quickly asked her former co-star, “Why would a Mean Girls 2 It’s never going to happen, is it?” And Lohan replied: “I don’t know. I heard something about it being a movie musical and I was like, ‘Oh no.’ We can not do that. It has to be the same tone.”
Seyfriend and Lohan aren’t the only cast members who would love to reunite with their former co-stars. Actor Jonathan Bennett (who played dreamy Aaron Samuels) recently spoke with People and shared that he wants to film a Christmas movie with Lohan.
“My dream and my goal is to make a Christmas movie with [Lindsay] Lohan and reconnect over the holidays,” he told the magazine. “I think it would be so much fun!”
Remember the iconic clip of the protagonists of Mean Girls choreographing Jingle Bell Rock in the 2004 teen comedy, during a scene that saw Cady Heron perform the hit (with suggestive dance moves) at a school talent show alongside queen bees Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried).
Where can we sign the petition for a meeting of the Mean Girls on Broadway?
