Cillian Murphy began to show interest in music from an early age and by the age of 10 he had already composed several songs. After graduating from high school, he formed The Sons of Mr. Green Genes, in which he was the vocalist, guitarist, and occasional pianist, in addition to composing all of their songs. Although Acid Jazz Records offered them a contract, Murphy turned down the offer due to the small amount of money he would receive in exchange for his compositions.
