At the end of 2020, the renowned singer Adam Levine bought a 1971 Maserati Ghibli, a true collector’s vehicle that was unit 1241 and was one of the few models that were sold between 1970 and 1973. However, this model they would have modified the documentation since the original unit is in a private collection in Switzerland.
It is a scam that comes from a company that has been in the classic car business for 50 years and, according to different sources, its history has more than 20,000 transactions. This is why Adam Levine did not hesitate to sue classic car seller Rick Cole in the United States District Court.
According to the lawsuit, “Cole claimed to have found an authentic Maserati Ghibli 4.9-litre Spyder that he described as ‘as good’ as an authentic Maserati Ghibli 4.9-litre Spyder with a clear and indisputable identity that a representative of the Trust had seen and driven in Monterey. a year or so earlier, and that it was valued at over $1 million.”
Adam Levine was advised by this company, whose deal was to keep one of the few units that were manufactured in the world of the Maserati Ghibli Spyder SS between 1970 and 1973 for 950 thousand dollars. Obviously it was unit 1241 that had a 4.9-liter V8 engine and a power of 335 CV.
So far so good, they convinced the singer to buy it in December 2020 and it was assumed that he had acquired the AM115.49S.1241. The icing on the cake was now that Adam Levine realized that it was not authentic, for the simple reason that this model is in the private collection of Clive Joy in Switzerland.
A turnaround that left the singer outraged and filed a lawsuit against Rick Cole to undo the agreement or recover the 950 thousand dollars. In it they accuse him of negligent misrepresentation, intentional misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment.
