BTS’s Jungkook is not going to slow down on the Billboard charts!
Last month, Jungkook made history as the first Korean solo artist to simultaneously debut a song at number 1. Ranked #1 on the Hot 100, Global 200, and Global Excl. US Billboard when his solo single “Seven” (featuring Latto) entered all three charts at number 1.
To add to this achievement, “Seven” has set an impressive record set by BTS’s “Dynamite”. During the week ending August 19, the Seven spent their fourth consecutive week at number one in both the Global 200 and the Global Excl. USA, making Jungkook the first Korean solo artist to top any of the charts for four weeks.
Notably, “Seven” and “Dynamite” are now the only two songs by a Korean artist to spend four weeks at number one on the Billboard Global 200.
“Seven” also climbed back up on the Billboard Hot 100 (a weekly chart of the most popular songs in the US) in its fourth week on the chart: for the week ending August 19, “Seven” climbed to number 28. only the second Korean solo artist to spend four consecutive weeks in the top 30, and the first to do so since PSY in 2012 (with “Gangnam Style”).
In addition, Billboard reports that “Seven” is the first song in the history of Global Excl. USA (which first launched in September 2020) opens for four consecutive weeks with over 100 million weekly streams outside of the United States. According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), “Seven” reached 101.9 million streams outside the US in its fourth week.
Meanwhile in the United States, “Seven” reached the top 20 of the Billboard Pop Airplay chart, which measures weekly plays on the top 40 US radio stations. For the fourth consecutive week on the chart, the song reached a new peak at number 19.
