Ensenada’s Christopher Robin Tarin has been chosen as the lead vocalist for Kimberly Akimbo, a Broadway Sessions show held at Green Room 42 in New York City.
In an interview with El Vigía, the Buenos Aires artist indicated that it is a musical adaptation by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori – winner of five 2023 Tony Awards – in which he participates as the lead singer.
He explained that the sessions include a new cast and even featured artists such as Ariana Grande and musical theater personalities, so he felt his calling to participate in the musical was a great opportunity to represent Ensenada.
“They present a Broadway show and they choose a great singer as the lead singer, parallel to the show, but as part of it, and this time I was lucky that they chose me to perform with them,” he explained.
No doubt, he said, his musical talent, which he began to develop at the age of 9, learning to play various instruments and later singing, led him to a successful career as he developed professionally opening concerts for singers such as Paty Cantú, Kalimba, Camila, Jesse & Joy.
In addition, he participated in TV shows such as La voz… México, where he was part of the band Yuri, which gave him performances on international stages and contact with the audience through music.
PROJECTS IN NY
The Ensenada native also highlighted the various presentations he had in New York last year, since he was called to attend the Lights UP Christmas Tree Lighting Show in Lincoln Square in December, where he performed “La Cigarra”, in a mariachi company.
He added that he is a member of the A Song for Life association, with which, in addition to musical performances such as the latter at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, he had the opportunity to speak and lecture for young people in the company of several international artists such as Melissa Joan Hart and Julianne Moore .
NEXT PLANS
The singer is currently working on a song with record producer Carly Rae Jepsen and Melanie Martinez, which he estimates will be released on digital platforms next fall.
At the same time, he is preparing to launch a musical project on ice, in which, in addition to demonstrating his singing talent, he will show his skating skills, with the help of Olympic medalist Jonathon Hunt.
Finally, he commented that he hopes these projects will lead him to various presentations both in Mexico and in the United States and Latin America, through which he can reveal the talent that is in Ensenada.
