(CNN) — Lady Gaga took the stage to deliver a raw and emotional rendition of her Oscar-nominated song “Hold My Hand” at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.
The song, from “Top Gun: Maverick,” was nominated in the best original song category.
Although she ultimately lost out to “Naatu Naatu” from the movie “RRR,” Gaga’s performance stood out for its simplicity.
For the performance, Gaga wore no makeup and wore a casual look in a dark T-shirt and jeans, a stark contrast to her smoky, sultry look on the red carpet.

What started out as a soft and tender performance turned into an intense and powerful moment, as Gaga rose to sing towards the end of the song. She received a standing ovation.
In 2019, Gaga won Best Original Song for “Shallow” from the movie “A Star Is Born,” which she performed opposite Bradley Cooper.
