We already knew that Legendary Pictures is working on a Pacific Rim prequel series, and Variety has now revealed that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the rights.
The series, featuring an original story, is being developed by the co-producers of Reacher, Fallout, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and The Boys.
The series is part of a deal between Legendary Pictures and filmmaker Eric Heisserer (Shadow and Bone, Arrival), who, together with Carmen Lewis, is responsible for developing IPs for the studio.
In March 2021, the anime series Pacific Rim: The Black, animated by Polygon Pictures (Drifting Dragons, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Ajin, Knights of Sidonia), premiered on Netflix.
