With 13 years of experience in the company, Dr. Bustos comes to the country after working as a medical director in Central America and the Caribbean. In his previous work, he led the overall medical strategy in six categories: internal medicine; hospitals/antimicrobial facilities; oncology; vaccine; rare diseases and immunology and inflammation.
What is your academic and professional background?
As part of his training, he is a surgeon in Autonomous University of Central America (UACA) in Costa Rica. He also received a Cardiovascular Clinical Fellowship from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and completed his PhD in Regulatory Sciences from the University of Southern California (USC).
He later graduated from the Senior Management Program at the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE). He also received a Master’s Degree in Global Cardiovascular Risk Prevention from Alcalá de Henares University in Madrid and completed the Professional Certificate Program in Medicine and Drug Development from King’s College London, UK.
The arrival of Daniel Bustos in Mexico follows the relocation of Dr. Jessica Moreno, who has served as Medical Director in the country since July 2020 and will now take over the Latin America Medical Affairs Authority.
Finally, in 2023, Pfizer plans to introduce new treatments for migraine, atopic dermatitis, amyloidosis cardiomyopathy, and various cancers such as colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and melanoma.
