Roma back in defense of Morata

Roma are still looking for a centre-forward for next season. According to Corriere dello Sport, he has set his sights on Alvaro Morata again after Inter Milan are set to close out West Ham’s Italy’s Scamacca, who was also claimed by the Romans.

One of the main problems is the lack of liquidity. They have to sell if they want to meet the economic demands of Atlético de Madrid. His three main assets are Ibanez, Karsdorp and Belotti.

The Roman club knows that the player is attracted by the opportunity to return to Italy, and even more so to share a dressing room with Paulo Dybala, with whom he has been friends since their time together at Juventus.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Morata has already agreed with Roma for a salary of 4.5 million euros plus bonuses. The problem is to get the 16 to 18 million euros that Atlético are asking for his transfer.

Also, the other options that the club has within a month, if they fail to sign the man from Madrid, will not convince José Mourinho, their manager. Daka from Leicester, Nzola from Spezia or Duvan Zapata from Atalanta.

The other problem that both Roma and any Morata fan has is that with each passing day this pre-season, Cholo is relying more and more on the striker, as he recently admitted in an interview with newspaper As : “He is a very important player for us. He has the characteristics of a striker that no one else has. Memphis is closest, but he also likes to go out and socialize. Alvaro is deep, stretches the team, has height, great header. This is fundamental. We hope he stays with us.”

Although Simeone knows that “it depends on the club and on himself. It is clear to us prisoners who will stay and who will leave.”
