Actor Mark Wahlberg (Ted, Uncharted) has replaced Ryan Gosling (Barbie, Star City: La La Land) in Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones. Gosling almost played Jack Salmon, a role he was preparing for when he decided to gain weight. However, Jackson did not agree with this decision, as he did not imagine the character of Susie Salmon’s father (Saoirse Ronan) to be like that. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that he was fired from the film a few days before filming began.
Gosling was pretty much ready to play Jack, Susie’s father who doesn’t give up on his ongoing search for his daughter, though he ultimately didn’t. To prepare for this role, he gained 27 kilograms using a technique that he found very effective. The actor drank melted ice cream whenever he was thirsty, as in his head he imagined that Jack weighed about 95 kilograms. This decision, which Gosling made on his own, caused disagreements between him and the director of films such as The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Gosling claims that he and Peter didn’t get to hang out during pre-production of the film and ended up losing his role shortly before filming began.. The director’s vision of Susie’s father was completely different from what Ryan had imagined, and this caused some disagreement between them. According to the actor, Jackson was so focused on so many things at once that he didn’t realize his weight gain until he showed up on set, stating that he was left “fat and unemployed” after being fired.

The Lovely Bones is an adaptation of the 2009 novel of the same name by Alice Sebold. Susie Salmon is a freshman murdered by her reclusive and seemingly unsuspecting neighbor named George, played (horrifyingly well) by Stanley Tucci. Susie is kidnapped by George from an underground hideout where she is lured by an assassin. The main character at first believes that she managed to escape from this hell, but later she realizes that she has fallen into “limbo”, a kind of purgatory.
During the movie Susie tries to contact her father, who is trying to solve the mystery of his daughter’s disappearance.. The Salmon family, made up of their mother Abigail (Rachel Weisz), sister Lindsey (Rose McIver), grandmother Lynn (Susan Sarandon), and father Jack (Mark Wahlberg), are trying to cope with their grief and are doing everything they can to figure it out. where is Susie and who is to blame for her disappearance.
