United States.- The National went up on the television stage to interpret Tropic Morning News in Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Leader Matt Berninger led vocals while backed by his bandmates Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner, Bryan Devendorf and Scott Devendorf.
In January, the group announced their next album. First Two Pages of Frankensteinsharing Tropic Morning News as the first single from the project. The following month, they released New Order T-Shirtthe second pre-release track from her ninth studio album due for release on April 28.
The album is the band’s first since I am easy to find of 2019, and features special appearances by Taylor Swift Sufjan Stevens and Phoebe Bridgers, who appears on two of the 11 songs.
In a statement, Berninger said the new record was born out of a “very dark spot where I couldn’t find any lyrics or melodies at all.” He added:
Even though we’d always been anxious whenever we were working on a record, this was the first time I felt like maybe things had really come to an end.” Eventually, the band “managed to come back together and tackle everything from a different angle, and because of that we got to what feels like a new era for the band.
The National will embark on a 19-date North American tour in May.
