Mayor Roman Alberto Cepeda González launched the “With DIF You Can See and Hear Too” program to help 500 people in need of cataract surgery and provide 400 hearing aids.

This program is the result of a collaborative effort between the Municipal Administration, the Integrated Family Development System (DIF) of Torreon and the Municipal Department of Health.

In his message, the mayor said that good vision and hearing is a need that needs to be addressed in order to improve the quality of people’s lives.

He mentioned that in the brigades and public hearings he leads, hearing aids and cataract surgeries are constant requests that citizens make to him.

“Today, addressing the health problem is the cross-cutting axis of my government,” he commented.

Cataract surgeries or hearing aids provided by the launched program will be free of charge.

“Having healthy citizens means a better Torreon and this municipal administration is committed to that,” said Cepeda González.

For her part, Ms. Celina Bremer de Zepeda, Honorary President of DIF Torreón, commented that the new municipal administration program, chaired by Mayor Roman Alberto Cepeda González, is starting in cooperation with the Municipal Public Health Authority.

“Today we are launching an evaluation campaign for cataract surgery and hearing aid audiometry. This idea of ​​the mayor was born out of a need that he discovers during his tours of the districts, in public hearings and in brigades,” he said. commented. .

He indicated that 50 percent of people over 60 suffer from visual or hearing impairment, adding that 12 percent of Torreon’s population is in that age range.

“DIF Torreón is honored to put human capital and care services at the service of citizens, to conduct about 1,500 evaluations that identify 900 beneficiaries of this program to perform 500 cataract surgeries and deliver 400 hearing aids,” he explained.

He said the campaign also includes a test with a filter to detect cataracts, an audiometric test, and a package of medical tests such as kidney damage detection, a rapid COVID test, glucose, blood pressure, and weight and height measurements.

“We are confident that this program, which is offered for the first time on such a scale in a municipal administration, will be a complete success,” said Selina Bremer de Zepeda.
