USA.- The Nice Guys 2 is currently in development with the original director and co-writer Shane Black and ryan gosling ready to return. According to Giant Freaking Robot the former director of Marvel and the future star of Barbie are making a sequel to their well-regarded neo-noir film 2016which is sure to make fans of fast-paced dialogue and buddy-comedy action very happy.
This raises the question of whether Two Dangerous Guys 2 will also feature the original star Russell Crowe next to Ryan Goslin, what would be necessary for the title to make sense.
The first Nice Guys movie starred Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as the inhabitants of The Angels in 1977 that they stumble upon a conspiracy involving an adult film actress, an anti-pollution protest group, and Robert Downey Jr. (playing a character, that is).
By the end of the movie, the former adversaries have established themselves as a private detective agency, which certainly seemed at the time to foreshadow a potential movie series. However, The Nice Guys 2 has taken seven years to secure Ryan Gosling, which raises some behind-the-scenes questions.
Obviously, for the detective agency to be called The Nice Guys (and for The Nice Guys 2 to really work), you need Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe back along with Shane Black. However, both Gosling and Crowe they seem to be extremely busy recently, with both actors having multiple projects in various stages of development. IMDb it currently lists Crowe with nine acting roles next to Gosling’s only five, but clearly, both men like to work.

More immediately, Ryan Gosling will star as Ken (or at least a version of the iconic doll) in the Barbie movie of Greta Gerwig With margot robbie and Will Ferrell. He will also star in a film revival of the 1980s action series. The Fall Guy, directed by David Leitch of Bullet Train and co-starring Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Hannah Wadinham. In addition to various other projects, Gosling has also been circling a new remake of Universal’s monster series Wolfman for years.
For his part, Russell Crow will soon star in the Catholic horror film The Pope’s Exorcist, a biographical film about the painter mark rothko and a number of rather generic-sounding action movies. Notably, she won’t be starring Gladiators 2the long-gestating sequel to his award-winning film Ridley Scott Academy Award; while multiple potential follow-ups to the film involved Crowe as a ghost, an immortal, or a time traveler, it sounds like he’s sitting out.
However, it is certain that The Nice Guys 2 will have Shane Black and Ryan Gosling back in the fold for another dirty, humor-infused crime adventure. It will be interesting to see if the story updates to The Angels from the 1980s (or later in time) or takes place outside of Black’s beloved City of Angels.
