INN assures that nutrichicha is a unique nutritional supplement in the country, as it has a great biological benefit for humans. What he doesn’t say is that this product is a cheap copy of other nutritional supplements that have been on the market for decades, such as Sure or Pediasure.
The product is part of the social programs promoted by the government of President Nicolás Maduro, who stressed its importance in the fight against malnutrition and ensure the food security of the Venezuelan people.
MANUFACTURES AND SELLS
On August 14 of this year, Maduro posted a message on his Twitter account (@NicolasMaduro) announcing that more than a million kilograms of nutricici had been distributed throughout the country thanks to the support of the Local Procurement and Production Committees (CLAP) and the Foundation of Socialist Missions.
He also wrote: “It’s delicious to have Nutrichicha! A drink made in our country using 100% national raw material production process that unites the “Nutrivida Line”. Healthy, tasty, safe and sovereign!”
In other messages, Maduro urged the population to consume nutrichika and spread its beneficial properties. He also thanked the TIN and the Ministry of People’s Power for Food for their work in the production and distribution of this food.
What Maduro did not mention is that nutrichici is not enough to cover the calorie and protein needs of a person, much less a pregnant woman or child. He also didn’t say that nutrichiki can’t be bought in supermarkets or pharmacies, but delivered through CLAP, committees controlled by the ruling party that discriminate against those who don’t support the government.
Nutrichicha has received support from some national and international organizations and institutions, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which has recognized the efforts of the Venezuelan government to ensure the right to food of its people.
However, other organizations and institutions have condemned nutrichicha as a political strategy to manipulate and subdue the population, that it lacks scientific evidence for its effectiveness and safety, and that it may have adverse health effects such as allergies, intolerances, or poisoning.
