The casting call for season 2 of the live-action One Piece has revealed new details about some highly anticipated characters in the Netflix series’ sequel.
The next season of One Piece will add several new characters to the live-action series. Season 2 will adapt the Alabasta Saga, the second saga of the manga and anime, which means that characters like Robin, Chopper, Vivi,, and Crocodile are expected to join the cast of the Netflix series.
Given the series’ growing popularity, a casting call for One Piece season 2 has revealed the age range and ethnicities of some of the main characters. According to reports ( shared on the Kingdom of Alabasta, Nefertari Vivi.
For Nico Robin, they are looking for someone with Hispanic or Latin origins, between 20 and 39 years old. Smoker should be played by a Caucasian actor aged 25 to 35, while Tashigi, the Navy Captain’s subordinate, should be a woman of Asian origin aged between 20 and 29.
In the next season of the live-action series One Piece, Luffy and his crew will also meet Crocus, the famous guardian of Laboon. The character will be played by a man aged 65 to 79, but the studio appears open regarding the actor’s ethnicity.
On the villain side now, our heroes will face new enemies on their journey, with their next notable adversaries being Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine of Baroque Works. The two members of the famous criminal organization will be respectively played by an actor of African origin and an actress of Caucasian type, both aged between 20 and 29.
Other major characters, such as Ace or Crocodile, are missing from these casting call reports for season 2 of the Netflix series One Piece. This could be because the producers already have performers in mind or because they will be cast later.
Netflix’s One Piece series is certainly one of the biggest live-action adaptation projects ever. The series debuted in August 2023 with eight episodes and received an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences. She succeeded in transposing into live-action the incredible world created by the now-famous Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece.
Following the success of the first season, a second season of the live-action series was confirmed by Netflix shortly after. Recently, the creators revealed that One Piece season 2 will launch in 2025. The season also has a new showrunner, Joe Tracz, who takes over from Steve Maeda.
