Google Maps now with accident reporting function on CarPlay – soon on Android Auto?

Google Maps inherits another Waze feature, which is now also launching on the car platforms.

Google is preparing another feature for its own maps app on the vehicle platforms. CarPlay users are currently surprised that they can now report accidents, obstacles, stationary vehicles, and other things in Google Maps. The feature initially comes from Waze, Google’s second map service.

Currently, Google is only introducing the function on CarPlay. There is no date yet for when the function will also be available for Android Auto. But it shouldn’t take long. There is a new button for the notifications on the right-hand side of the screen in Google Maps

These reports are available:

  • Accident
  • Slow traffic
  • Construction site
  • Road narrows
  • Stationary vehicle
  • Object on the street
  • Radar trap

The first CarPlay users (via Ampler ) have received the new feature in the last few days. Google has not yet officially introduced or announced it. I wrote a post about Waze some time ago because I think this part of the app is really great .
