Avatar: Fire and Ash is the official title for the third installment of the Avatar series.

Deadline claims that on Friday, August 9, at Disney’s D23 Expo at the Honda Center, James Cameron delivered the eagerly awaited news with actors Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington.

He teased the audience by presenting the title after traveling 7,000 miles from New Zealand.

Although he didn’t reveal any information about the upcoming movie and didn’t post any trailers, his excitement was evident.

“Whoa, that’s a big group of people. Is this something epic? Most epic event for the majority of epic enthusiasts,” the director declared to the assembly.

Cameron described the third installment as having “high emotional stakes” and promising to explore “new cultures and settings,” giving spectators more of Pandora than they’d ever seen.

“The new film may not meet your expectations, but it certainly fulfills your desires,” he insinuated, intensifying the anticipation.

During one of Cameron’s biggest public appearances, he shocked fans at CinemaCon 2016 by revealing that there will be four Avatar sequels rather than the three that had been originally intended.

The release date for Avatar: Fire and Ash, presented in 3D, is scheduled for December 19, 2025.
