Comedian Lee Jin-ho (39), who is suspected of illegal gambling, has been handed over to the prosecution.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 17th that Lee was sent to the prosecution on the 15th on gambling charges.
Lee is suspected of gambling illegally and spending hundreds of millions of won in the process.
The police investigation began in October of last year when a complainant filed a complaint with the National Petition Center.
The complainant posted a message saying, “The police should thoroughly investigate Lee’s habitual gambling and fraud charges so that criminals will no longer run rampant in the popular culture and arts world.”
Lee has confessed to debts from illegal gambling on social media.
He said, “In 2020, I started playing games on an illegal internet gambling site by chance and ended up taking on a debt that was difficult to handle,” and “I have been paying off the money steadily every month, and I plan to pay off this debt on my own until I die.” Lee debuted in 2005 through SBS’s “People Looking for Laughter” and became known through tvN’s “Comedy Big League” and JTBC’s “Knowing Bros.”
